The Meridian Society’s Tour of Shandong was inspired by the centenary of the Chinese Labour Corps (CLC) most of whom came from Shandong which was occupied by European countries for many years, a legacy still visible in buildings. The visit enabled the tour to meet the descendants of the CLC, the birthplace of Confucius and its most sacred mountains and coastline.
Wushu was developed in an effort to standardise the practice of traditional Chinese martial arts. Competitive Wushu is composed of two disciplines: Taolu and Sanda.
Taolu forms comprise basic movements (stances, kicks, punches, balances, jumps, sweeps and throws) based on traditional Chinese martial art styles.
Sanda has all the combat aspects of wushu combining kicks, boxing and wrestling.
